1. participation conditions

Participants must be at least 16 years old. Alphabetization in the Roman alphabet is required.

2. Payment Methods

2.1 After enrollment, participants undertake to pay the course fees in full within the specified deadlines, otherwise they will lose the right to the booked service. In case of enrollment after the deadline and late payment, the right to a discounted course fee may be forfeited.

2.2 Immediately after taking the placement test, participants will be given a classification of the level they are eligible for and will be able to complete payment and enrollment formalities. Those who exceed the deadline will lose the right to participate in the course.

2.3 After the payment of the course fee and in due time before the start of the course, the Language Centre informs the course participants about the course schedule, the class times and the classrooms. Course participants are obliged to comply with the regulations on registration and payment.

3. Course Fees

3.1 The prices advertised on the Language Centre website at the time of registration are binding.

3.2 The first change of course (e.g. change to a course of another level within the same course period) is free of charge. For all further course changes, the Goethe Language Centre will charge an additional fee of 10% of the fees of the new course.

3.3 If Participants without prior knowledge miss the start of the course, they can still join the course up to the 15th lesson. Participants with previous knowledge can join the course up to the 30th lesson. However, the entire course fee must be paid for the duration of the course.

4. Cancellation and Refunds

4.1 In case of cancellation up to 7 days before the beginning of the course, a handling fee of 10% of the course price will be charged. In case of cancellation within one week before the beginning of the course, a fee of 30% of the course price will be charged. In case of cancellation after the course has started, there will be no refund of the course fee.

4.2 Cancellation must be communicated in writing. The date of receipt of the notice of refund by us at the Language Centre is decisive for the date of refund.

4.3 In the event of refund due to extraordinary situations such as serious illness or natural disasters, we will decide on the further procedure after presentation of a medical certificate and consultation with the participants.

5. Course Level Assignment/ Class Size

5.1 The Language Centre will assign course participants to the appropriate course based on the results of the placement test.

5.2 Students with a certificate of attendance from another Goethe Language Center that has been successfully completed and is not older than six months can be placed directly in the next higher level.

5.3 Students with no previous knowledge of the language may start the A1 course without a placement test.

5.4 The number of students varies between courses and course periods. If there is insufficient demand at the beginning of the course, the Language Centre reserves the right to cancel or postpone the course. In this case, course participants have the possibility to change to another course or to receive a full refund of the course fee.

5.5 A change of course is possible within the first week after consultation with the management of the Language Center, provided that there are free places.

5.6 The placement test is for internal use only and cannot be used by course participants outside the Language Centre as a placement recommendation.

6. Certificate of attendance

6.1 Only course participants who have attended at least 75% of the lessons will receive a certificate of attendance for the course attended.

6.2 In order to receive a certificate of attendance, a total score of at least 60% must be achieved at the end of the course. The composition of the overall result is as follows:

6.3 Only course participants with an overall result of at least 60% can enter the next higher course level. If the overall result is below 60%, the course is considered failed and the course must be repeated. In individual cases, the management decides on repeat examinations. There is no right to repeat examinations.

7. Obligation of Participants

Participants are obliged to comply with the course rules, rules for health protection during corona time and house rules applicable in the Language Centre.

7.1 Course participants are obliged to actively participate in class and to arrive on time. Absences must be communicated in good time to the teacher responsible for that day.
