Dear German learners and interested parties,
It takes some effort and time to learn a foreign language. Every beginning is hard, and you will certainly have many questions for us before you enroll in a German course at our language learning center. Therefore, we would like to introduce you to our passion for the German language and teaching methods.
We are proud to be part of the Goethe Network. With 157 institutes in 98 countries, the state-run Goethe Institute promotes the German language and culture around the globe. In Nanjing, we work according to the globally valid quality standards of the Goethe-Institut to offer you the best and most lively German lessons in Jiangsu Province.
Quality begins with the selection of our teachers. If you want to teach with us, you must be fluent in German at level C1/C2 and have at least two years of teaching experience.
As a seal of quality, eleven of our 13 Chinese teachers employed at our German language center have a C2 language certificate, the highest level attainable for non-native speakers.
At the beginning of their teaching career, every JESIE-Goethe Language Center teacher must complete a qualification program. This allows new teachers to familiarise themselves with the teaching methods of the Goethe-Institut right from the start and to learn from experienced teachers.
The globally standardized “Green Diploma” training program is a central element of our quality management. Here, our teachers apply Goethe-Institut’s proven teaching methods in a six-part in-service training series, take exams, attend seminars on regional studies, and become familiar with digital media. All of our teachers can look back on an extended stay in Germany – whether as a student of German studies, as a German teacher or translator, or through commercial activities in renowned German companies.
These quality features are complemented by a close-knit and continuous quality management in language courses and examinations. Our teachers are regularly observed in class and regularly take part in further trainings by the Goethe Institute.
But what is the result of all these efforts? First and foremost, we want to offer our course participants lively and varied lessons. Of course, we do not neglect grammar and vocabulary work. Nevertheless, we believe that communication is the best way to learn German. Our lessons are in German from the very first lesson. Through role-playing and interactive exercises, you will gain confidence in your own linguistic ability and learn to cope with everyday situations, as it is our primary concern to prepare you in the best possible way for your stay in Germany (or communication with Germans). Our students obviously appreciate the effectiveness of our concept: this is proven, by the high rate of re-enrolment and unusually high pass rates in exams such as the Test DaF of students who had previously attended our courses.
But learning success is often not automatic. Contact with you – the German learner – is very important to us. Our teachers take time for you and your questions and are happy to give you regular feedback and individual learning tips as every person learns German in a different, individual way.
And learning German is not all with us – we are also the only place in Nanjing where you can take the globally recognised Goethe exams. We would also like to invite you to take part in our free (online) cultural events. Whether it’s “fun” like game nights, virtual cooking nights, film nights and talk shows or more “practical” like information events on topics like “Studying in Germany” or “how do I write the perfect cover letter?” – you are always welcome to join us!
