Exam Brief

The Goethe Certificate A2 requires elementary language skills. The examination corresponds to the second level (A2) on the six-level competence scale of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. You can after passing the exam for example

  • understand the most important information in everyday conversations, but also short announcements from the radio or messages on the phone,
  • take the most important information from short newspaper articles, everyday advertisements and public notice boards,
  • fill in the usual forms in shops, banks or offices,
  • Write messages that relate to your immediate living environment,
  • Introduce yourself in a conversation and exchange ideas about your own life situation,
  • ask and answer questions about everyday topics in conversations,
  • Agree or negotiate something in everyday conversations.
