Full-time German Teacher

Full-Time German Teachers at the Goethe Language Centre at Qingdao University (China)

The Goethe-Language at Qingdao University is a collaborative initiative between the Goethe-Institut and Qingdao University. We offer the language courses and examinations of the Goethe-Institut in Qingdao. To support our team, we are looking for dedicated full-time teachers in the field of German as a Foreign Language.

Job Responsibilities:
– Full-time teaching position with 20-25 teaching units (UE) per week.
– Teach at proficiency levels A1-C1 and in TestDaF preparation courses.
– Administer Goethe-Institut examinations.
– Assist project management and co-organize extracurricular programs.
– Conduct placement tests.

If you are interested in this position, you should fit the following candidate profile:

– Native German speaker with a bachelor’s degree or higher.
– Degree obtained in German as a Foreign Language, German Teacher Training, Pedagogy, German Studies, or German Linguistics (completed German as a Foreign Language studies preferred).
– At least 2 years of teaching experience across proficiency levels A1-C1.
– Strong methodological and didactic skills in German as a Foreign Language.
– Familiarity with learner-centered and action-oriented teaching methods.
– Intercultural empathy (experience in Asia is desirable).
– Flexibility (possible assignments in evenings, weekends, and semester breaks).
– Teamwork ability.
