Freelance German Teachers at the Goethe Language Centre at Qingdao University (China)
The Goethe-Language at Qingdao University is a collaborative initiative between the Goethe-Institut and Qingdao University. We offer the language courses and examinations of the Goethe-Institut in Qingdao. To support our team, we are looking for dedicated part-time teachers in the field of German as a Foreign Language.
If you are interested in this position, you should fit the following candidate profile:
– Bachelor’s degree or higher in German-related fields (e.g., German as a Foreign Language Teaching, German Studies, Linguistics).
– German language proficiency at level C1 or above according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
– At least 2 years of experience teaching German courses; priority given to candidates with teaching experience across different proficiency levels.
– Certain experience studying in Germany; priority given to those with long-term residency experience in Germany.
– Understanding of German national conditions and current affairs, with cross-cultural communication and empathy skills.
– Eagerness to teach German courses at various levels in modern, communicative foreign language classrooms (including in-person, online, and blended learning formats).
– Flexibility to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and school vacations.
– Mastery of methodologies and didactics in German as a Foreign Language; familiarity with or recognition of the Goethe-Institut’s teaching approaches (e.g., learner-centered, emphasis on communicative competence and practical application of the language).
– For candidates without prior teaching experience at the Goethe-Institut: willingness to complete specified methodological training by the Goethe-Institut, participate in online and offline class observations in advance, and obtain corresponding qualifications based on individual background.
