Full-Time German Teachers at the GoetheLanguage Centre at Sichuan International Studies University in Chongqing (China)

The Goethe-Language at Sichuan International Studies University is a collaborative initiative between the Goethe-Institut and Sichuan International Studies University (SISU). We offer the language courses and examinations of the Goethe-Institut in Chongqing. To support our team, we are looking for dedicated full-time teachers in the field of German as a Foreign Language.

If you are interested in this position, you should fit the following candidate profile:

  • University degree, preferably in German as a Foreign Language (DaF), German Studies or Linguistics
  • Good knowledge of German (at least a level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
  • Group lesson teaching experience with German as a foreign language, and if possible, at different levels
  • Methodological and didactic knowledge in the field of German as a foreign language
  • Familiarity with learner-centred and activity-oriented forms of teaching
  • If no experience in teaching at a Goethe-Institut: Willingness to undergo further training in the teaching methodology used at the Goethe-Institut and to undergo a qualification phase
  • Intercultural awareness
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Flexibility ( willingness to work in the evenings, at weekends and during semester breaks)
  • Interest in a long-term permanent position of at least one year

We offer you:

  • Regular participation in further training courses of the Goethe-Institut in Chongqing and other cities in China (financing of the “Grünes Diplom” in case of a longer contract period)

  • A wide range of teaching materials
  • Support in finding accommodation and visa matters
  • Monthly basic salary of 8100 CNY (equivalent to 60 teaching units), depending on professional experience also higher basic salary, approx. 20 public holidays plus 20 days’ holiday, one return flight ticket to Germany per year, local health insurance
  • Remuneration per additional teaching unit: 135 CNY (higher depending on professional experience), usually approx. 80 teaching units per month, possibly additional project work

The Goethe-Language Centre is located on the campus of Sichuan International Studies University in the Shapingba district, surrounded by forests and mountains with a direct underground connection to the city centre (20-30 minutes). The air quality on campus is good. The cost of living in Chongqing is lower than in other major Chinese cities such as Beijing or Shanghai.
