Due to the impact of the new coronavirus epidemic, the Goethe-Jinchuang German Training Center made the following adjustments to the courses, examinations and pre-exam trainings in February 2020:

Courses

The remaining units of the Winter Holiday Classes have been cancelled. If you were registered for a winter holiday class, these will be your options:

1, Change of course: defer the remaining units to the first or second semester 2020 at Goethe-Jinchuang, or to the summer holiday courses 2020.

Note: if you defer to a 80 unit class format, the change will be free of charge. When changing to another course format, the tuition for the winter vacation class can be fully deducted, and after a 5% discount, only the difference in tuition fees between the different formats must be paid. Textbooks will not be issued again.

2, Refund remaining units: refund the registration fee and tuition fees for the remaining units of the winter holiday class. Textbooks do not need to be returned.

Calculation examples:

a. 3300 CNY has been paid, including 100 CNY registration fee. 850 CNY for the 4 days of the class before the Chinese New Year holidays will be deducted. Refund: 3300-850 = 2450 CNY

b. 3140 have been paid, including 100 CNY registration fee. 810 CNY for the 4 days of the classbefore the Chinese New Year holidays will be deducted. Refund: 3140-810 = 2330 CNY

Deferral of booked classes in the first semester 2020 (originally scheduled to start in mid-February):

1, Extension: already paid for and confirmed courses can be postponed to the next possible courses in 2020. The final decision can be made after the new start time is determined.

2, Refund: Full refund. Textbooks will not have to be returned. When registering for the next course, the eligibility to a 5% discount will be waived.

Pre-exam training: postponed, see seperate announcement on exams for details.

All students are requested to register by email as follows (choose 1 out of 3):

1, Select a shift for the winter vacation class: send an email to kurse.shanghai@goetheslz.com, following the these formal guidelines:

• Email subject line: winter class change (your name)

• Email body: I, (your name) would like to defer the remaining units of my previously booked winter class 2020 at Goethe-Jinchuang to first/second semster 2020/summer vacation class 2020 (choose one these three options. As soon as we can announce the beginning dates of the classes/semesters, you will get a chance to reconfirm). I would like to defer to the .... class. (Please, specify class format).

2, Extension of courses in the first semester 2020: send an email to kurse.shanghai@goetheslz.com, following the these formal guidelines:

• Email subject line: extension of course in the first semester 2020 (your name)

• Email body: I, (your name) would like to hold my class booking for the first semester at Goethe-Jinchuang for the time a new schedule has been determined.

3, Select refund for booked classes: Send email to beratung.shanghai@goetheslz.com, following these formal guidelines:

• Email subject line: Application for refund on winter holiday class / class in first semster 2020 (your name)

• Email body: I, (you name) would like to receive a refund of my fees paid for a winter holiday course / course in the first semester 2020, because....

• Invoice status: 1 Remittance payment, invoice not yet received. 2 On-site payment will be returned to the invoice. 3 Other (if VAT invoice has been deducted)

• Split Invoice: (If it is not a full refund, the split Invoice will default to the student's name, and the invoice is stored in the Julu Road Campus.) If your split Invoice requires a company issuance, please inform us accordingly.

• Receiving account for refund (for students or parents only): Account name / Account number / Bank name / Province, City, Sub-branch or branch name where the bank is located

Note:

1, Students who paid on-site must return the invoice. You can apply for a refund first, and then send the invoice after the courier resumes (please choose to send the courier fee). 2, Due to the special circumstances, we cannot guarantee you the specific time at which we can complete the refund process. After the school resumes work, we will process the refund as soon as possible. We kindly ask for your understanding!

Exams and pre-exam training

For candidates who have registered for Goethe-certificate exams, we have the following processing steps:

1, You can choose to postpone the date of your examt: we will keep your confirmed reservation, and you can choose one of the exams of the same level before the end of 2020 at Goethe-Jinchuang Shanghai. The specific exam dates will be announced on our website and WeChat channel. Candidates who have already submitted the required application documents don´t need to submit any further material. Please note: Candidates who have already postponed a 2019 exam to February or March 2020 cannot apply for a refund, according to our terms and conditions, but can only postpone to the very next exam date.

2, Cancellation of exams: full refund. After the new examination dates have been announced, you need to re-register for the Goethe exam.

Students who have registered for the February exam training classes will go through the same procedures as exam candidates (see description above).

The new 2020 exam schedule is expected to be announced within three weeks of resumed offline programs at Goethe-Jinchuang.

We kindly ask all exam candidates and participants in exam trainings in February 2020 to send us their instructions to the following mailboxes, according to their choice (postpone or cancel):

Note: Candidates who choose to postpone their examination need wait for the announcement of the new Goethe-Jinchuang 2020 exam schedule and then confirm their new exam date in a seperate email. They still reserve the right to apply for a refund. The deadline for applying for a refund is subject to further notice.

Friendly reminder:

All already issued Goethe-certificates, that have been delivered or picked up yet, will be delivered or can be picked up at our Julu Lu campus after we resume our regular services tehre in March. Until then, our regular office hours have been suspended.

In accordance with the standards and guidelines of the Shanghai departments of Municipal Education and Health, and in order to minimize the spread of the 2019-nCoV and to protect the health of our customers as well as employees, from February 10 to the end of February, all employees work from home and only provide email consultation services.
